Yoga Strength Class - Coming June 2024

What I love about Yoga is the diversity it offers. You can tailor your practice to your own personal goals. With that in mind, from June - I am launching my new Yoga Strength class, incorporating weights into a dynamic yoga practice. A cardio work out, moving the body, building strength and burning fat all at once!

In my journey of exploring various fitness routines, I’ve found yoga to be a sanctuary of balance, flexibility and mental clarity. However, as much as I cherish the traditional yoga practice, incorporating weights into your yoga practice will not only intensify the physical challenge but also deepen your overall experience.

Why Add Weights?

The idea of adding weights to yoga might seem unconventional, but the benefits are compelling. Weights can enhance muscle strength, improve bone density and accelerate fat burning. For me, it was about pushing boundaries and discovering new ways to build a stronger, more resilient body while maintaining the mindfulness that yoga fosters.

Starting Small: My Approach

I begin with light weights, to avoid overwhelming muscles and to ensure we can maintain proper form. Integrating weights into yoga requires mindfulness to prevent injury and to keep the practice aligned with yoga’s essence of controlled, deliberate movement. The necessity of maintaining control over the weights forces us to focus intently on each movement, enhancing awareness of muscle engagement and body alignment. This acute focus mirrors the meditative aspect of yoga, enriching the practice rather than detracting from it.

The Results: Strength and Serenity

After a few weeks, you will notice significant improvements. Muscle tone increase, particularly in the arms and shoulders along with enhance balance and core strength, which positively influences traditional yoga poses.

Fitness isn’t about rigidly sticking to one method, but about evolving and finding what works best your body and mind. The blend of strength training with the serenity of yoga creates a holistic approach to wellness, catering to both physical fitness and mental well-being.

For anyone considering this fusion, I recommend starting light, listening to your body and embracing the journey. It’s a beautiful way to challenge yourself and discover new strengths, both on and off the mat.

xx
